The flexible, family-friendly script and non-stop zany performance of Circus Lolo serve as the foundation for this interactive keiki theater workshop.

Participants experience every aspect of the performance— from writing their own scripts and designing costumes to creating props and learning the ins-and-outs of theater tech. Along the way, the kids develop transferrable skills such as problem-solving, public speaking, teamwork and leadership.

At the heart of this workshop is creative exploration, where kids get to unleash their imaginations and discover the joy of bringing their ideas to life on stage.

The program concludes with a lively community performance, giving children a chance to showcase their hard work, express their creativity, and experience the excitement of live theater.

Costume and prop design. Armed with recycled cardboard and foam rubber, Circus Lolo Jr. participants can easily craft a variety of fun, inventive costumes and props, transforming their ideas into physical objects that bring their characters to life on stage.

Everyone is welcome. Circus Lolo Jr. emphasizes inclusivity by keeping the number of speaking parts to a minimum, allowing most participants to perform without the pressure of memorizing lines. It’s all about having fun, wearing a silly costume, acting goofy, and getting a round of applause!.

Intro to theater sound, lighting and effects. In Circus Lolo Jr., participants learn the basics of QLab, the industry-standard software used to control theater productions. Despite its professional power, QLab is simple enough for kids to organize sound cues, manage lighting fades, and create special effects like smoke and bubbles.

Rehearsing and performing. Rehearsals in Circus Lolo Jr. are where organization and teamwork shine. Participants take responsibility for their characters, props, and cues, working together to bring the show to life. The energy and exhilaration come to a peak during the live performance, where their collaboration results in an unforgettable show they can take pride in.
